I was recently shown this range of handcrafted planters. They caught my eye in a big way. I’m not too sure if it was the amazing scale, the earthy tones or the organic shapes or a mix of the three.
Looking into them further, I discovered the brains behind the Atelier Vierkant planters is a Belgium family that have been producing beautiful planters for around 25 years.
The Janssen’s family have been privileged to work with some major international designers and architects (Luciano Giubbilei, Zaha Hadid, Oehme Van Sweden, Raymond Jungles) to create the totally unique range they ship to all corners of the globe.
A combination of well sourced clay from different regions of Germany and another material called ‘Chamotte’, give the planters a particular strength after firing and reduces the risk of shrinkage.
The planters, believe it or not, are produced by hand by a team of 20 master craftspeople which effectively give the planters their one of a kind aesthetic.
The short of it…
