The Rhaphiolepis indica ‘Snow Maiden’ or Indian Hawthorn is about to make a star appearance. From Winter through to Spring, the Snow Maiden produces small slightly perfumed white flowers that cover the tops of the plant emulating a sprinkling of snow.
One of the toughest plants around, the ‘Snow Maiden’ has an organic upright habit growing to around 75cm high and 50cm wide. It can be clipped into a hedge, but I find its natural habit to be quite spectacular. It is highly textural, elegant and constantly provides new flushes of bright lime green growth.
Best used en mass with contrasting foliage plants, the ‘Snow Maiden’ can withstand salt, heat, drought and wind. My kind of plant!
