Tim Davies Landscaping: West Leederville

Today, we again cross over to the other side of this great country to feature a project designed and constructed by Perth based TDL (Tim Davies Landscaping). A character filled, family friendly garden with an emphasis upon liveability and functionality.

A succinct brief was provided by the clients, along with supporting inspirational images to aid in communicating what it was they wanted from their outdoor space. The proposed garden and pool was to complement the existing architecture and style of the clients’ 1898 cottage home.

It was to embody a classic planting palette of green and white, whilst maintaining and expanding upon the existing planting of citrus, mature trees and wisteria.

LVJ_016On the wish list was a pool, a lawn area, conversation pit, Koi pond and extended pergola.

LVJ_062The original idea was to have the Koi pond and pool within the same space, but after some rationalising, the garden functioned more efficiently by separating the two elements.

LVJ_001The custom corten and bluestone koi pond runs along one side of the property and wraps around an existing Jacaranda, giving the illusion of the tree growing up through the pond.

LVJ_026With the block sloping towards the rear of the property, it allowed for the exposure of one end of the pool wall, which in turn made way for a secluded, sunken area of the garden. This space, quite separate from the rest, is a great area for their teenage kids and friends to hang out.

LVJ_030A hedge ‘moat’ was created between the pool and lawn to provide pool isolation without the need of a physical fence.

LVJ_060The end result is a very happy client and a garden thoroughly appreciated by family and friends on a summer’s afternoon lazing by the pool under the shade of the Jacaranda and Carob trees. Divine.

The short of it…
