Josh Harrison from Harrison’s Landscaping, Sydney, is a savvy, passionate and driven man. Having been in operation now for over 10 years, his business has evolved to offer a complete service from garden design, landscape construction, pool design and building, through to garden maintenance. Josh has a strong team of qualified people behind him meticulously covering every facet of Harrison’s Landscaping. Today, we have a look at one of his projects in Mosman.
Harrison’s completed this project in collaboration with Hare & Klein and Saturday Studio. A tricky garden to design and construct with a steep slope to contend with and limited access, having to crane in an excavator and crane out over 120 tonne of fill.
The pool and stairs were designed to fan out from the home to work in with the scale of the house. The colours and tones of the home are quite dark and these were continued out into the garden. Bluestone was used for the tiling and a stained tallowwood for the decking.
All the boundary walls were bagged with a dark oxide and the timber walls were treated with a matching stain. The dark tones of the hardscaping have allowed the plants to really become a feature.
The outdoor BBQ/Pizza oven area is extremely functional, while the cedar cabinetry was designed to tie in with the aesthetics of the home.
The pool is lined with Bisazza tiles, while an infinity edge allows water to spill over the rear of the pool, acting as a water feature. The water level was designed to sit just shy of the adjacent decking which offers the elusion of more space.
The planting is a mixture of textural and white flowering plants such as Frangipani, native grasses, Quondongs, Olive trees, Lilys, Cycads, Sedum, Agave and Magnolias.
